The Wadden Sea
...fascinating, unique

Tidal creek hike

Tidal streams and channels are also called deep, hole and sea inlet. They connect the Wadden Sea with the open sea. At high tide, seawater flows through the tidal streams into the mudflats; at low tide, it flows back out to sea. We will show you two tidal streams, the Sahlenburg Loch and the Duhner Loch, and explain their constant changes and shifts, how a new stream is formed, why it is impossible to cross a tidal stream at every low tide, and how dangerous it can be to try. Sometimes you can find small pieces of amber at the edges of the tidal creeks. The tour lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and is suitable for children aged 8 and up. We offer this Tidal creek hike in Sahlenburg.
